prayer fellowship and WordThere are good habits that make every Christian grow and live a healthy lifestyle. Doing these things on a consistent basis make our spiritual life healthy. A mature and healthy Christian is also considered a strong Christ’s follower. It should be the goal of every believer to become healthy spiritually.  What are these habits? Let us learn and apply them in our lives:

1. The Habit of Praying Alone

The habit of praying alone is also called a personal prayer life. There are passages that talk about the personal prayer life of Jesus when he was on earth. In Mark 1:35, “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” There is another passage that we can read in Luke 22:39 & 24, “And he (Jesus) came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him. He prayed more fervently, and he was in such agony of spirit that his sweat fell to the ground like great drops of blood.”

The particular passages above are presented in the context of praying alone. Jesus is our example. He demonstrated a strong personal prayer life during his life on earth. To be healthy, as a Christian, a personal prayer life should be established. One of the important foundations of our faith is personal devotion. Always practice this habit and become a healthy Christian.

2. The Habit of Applying God’s Word daily

One of the challenges that we face in life as Christians, is to translate what we “know” into action. Perhaps you know so many passages from the Bible but the most challenging part is to apply them. You may be able to quote them in memory. But again, applying them is different.

When Joshua and the Israelites, as they were about to enter Canaan and before crossing the Jordan river, received a clear instruction from God. They need to obey the instruction in order for them to succeed and prosper. What was the instruction? We can read in Joshua 1:8, The Lord said to Joshua, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may. be careful to do everything written in it Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

A successful and a prosperous Christian knows, understands, and applies God’s word in his life consistently. Be healthy, successful and prosperous.

3. The Habit of Getting Involve into Fellowship

In the context of the local church, a fellowship refers to the gathering of believers for a common purpose. For example, a worship service can also be a “fellowship.” When people gather together and form a small group with a purpose, it is also a fellowship.

The early believers in the book of Acts were actively involved in fellowship. We can read that in Acts 2:42, “They devoted themselves to the apostle’s teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” The author of the Book of Hebrews also encouraged the believers to always get involve into fellowship. In Hebrews 10:25 says, “Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another…”

There are benefits of getting involve into fellowship on a regular basis. We can encourage one another, share the burden of each other through prayer, and we can all express our love to one another.
